What will a career in Cybersecurity look like?

If you’re interested in starting a career in cybersecurity, it’s essential to have a basic skill set in IT, including network and systems administration, programming, data entry, and cloud computing. While a degree is not required, structured training can help advance your career.

Beginners typically start in entry-level roles such as system administrator, help desk technician, software developer, junior information security analyst, or IT auditor.

As you gain experience and certifications, you can progress to mid-level positions such as Penetration and Vulnerability Tester, Ethical Hacker, and Cybersecurity Consultant. Advanced-level roles include Cybersecurity Manager, Cybersecurity Engineer, Cybersecurity Architect, and other senior management positions. 

With enough experience, you may even become the Chief Information Security Officer, build cybersecurity teams, and design security policies.

Course Objectives

The course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to identify, analyze, and rectify computer security breaches in real-world scenarios. This is achieved through practical sessions in the Cyber Investigations Laboratory, Network Security Laboratory, and Security and Penetration Testing Laboratory.

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Have the ability to secure compromised systems, safeguard personal data, and protect computer networks within an organization.
  • Be able to design and implement security solutions and policies.
  • Understand critical concepts in Cryptography, Governance and Compliance and develop strategies to ensure web security.
  • Learn to monitor and analyze cyber-attacks using cyber/computer forensics software/tools.
